Home' AtoZ Wedding Guide : 2009 Contents Plan your special day
You have probably dreamt about
your wedding day for years -- where
you would like to tie the knot, what
you would wear and how beautiful
everything would look. But how do
you create the wedding of your dreams
without spending a fortune?
The most important thing you can do is set
yourselves a budget.
Sit down together as a couple and work out exactly
what you need to buy or spend money on and exactly
how much you are willing to spend overall.
If the parents of the bride or groom are contributing
money towards the wedding, it is a good idea to
involve them in organising your wedding budget.
First, decide on an overall budget that is within your
price range. The cost of a wedding depends on how
big you want your celebrations to be and how formal
or extravagant you choose to go.
Your budget will need to include all stationery,
bridal attire, venue fees, flowers, entertainment,
photography, food, drinks, gifts, accommodation and
Next, break down each category and work out how
much you will need to spend on individual items.
After doing this, see if your items and categories
add up to your original budget. If you are way over
or under, re-evaluate your category budgets until
you can finalise an overall budget that won't leave
you in debt.
