Congratulations you're engaged!
Whether it has been a long time coming or a spontaneous proposal, you have
both displayed your love and commitment to each other and are now engaged.
Couples often choose to host an engagement party for family and friends to mark
this special occasion, but before you pop open the champagne, there are a few
things you need to take care of first.
Make sure you inform both your families of your plans to wed. Traditionally, the
groom would have asked the bride's parents for permission to marry her, but
nowadays it's more likely for the bride and groom to tell both sets of parents
After telling your close family and friends, it is time to let your other relatives and frie
know. It is also customary to make an official announcement in the newspaper.
Now is the time to pick your bridal party.
Once you have that figured out, it's a
good idea to officially invite them to
take part in your wedding day.
As soon as you start telling people,
and with the engagement party
approaching, everyone will be asking
when the big day will be. It is not
important to have an official date at
this point, but knowing roughly when
the wedding will be is a good idea.
Remember that those invited to the
engagement party are usually invited to
the wedding as well, so now is a great
time to let people know when it will be.
Make sure to plan your engagement
party as much as possible before
the day. Having the food, drinks and
entertainment ready to go will mean
that you can spend more time sipping
champagne with your fiancé.
